Being a slow learner is delicious. Decades to savor, deep pockets and it's always Christmas.

Thanks for posting this. For too long folks have focused solely on Darth's "dark side", ignoring his talents for comedy. Touching here is that he can still find it to "holler", even as he goes to the other side. Clever product placement by Hohner.

It almost sounds like there is no amp; a guitar corded directly into a recorder, or into the brain. Delicate sound.

I like the music of Conlon Nancarrow very much, and recommend it to anyone who hasn't heard it yet. He was a jazz trumpeter/communist/Lincoln Brigades fighter/American expatriot in Mexico composer who wrote piano music that is very difficult to pl...

This is very smooth, very cool. I saw Albert King once live, and he was choking the life out of a Gibson Flying Vee. His "Laundromat Blues" moved me when I was a teenager, and I have obsessively hated laundromats ever since. Or, as they are called...

I thought it would be better to keep this open, as enough people are subscribed to this thread who get mail notifications when there's updates.

I had to upload an Albert King song, available for a short-time. Just because he's so good.

I just uploaded a song ("Darn That Dream") to demonstrate the sound of an amp of mine, a "Juke 1210". It's a tube amp based on Ampeg/Magnetone/Gibson amps of the 60s, with a really nice sound. The reverb and vibrato (true vibrato) are unmatched fo...

Changes to Layout

Just an admin note to let you know that I changed the layout of the main page a bit.

  • I've removed the portlets for members and groups, as you can see members from the "Members" tab, and we have no groups.
  • I've added this note/space, which is a place for admins to announce changes like this.
  • I've added an extra notes box at the bottom, where 3rd party widgets can be added (like last.fm playlists).  I've demonstrated this with one of my

Same Kind of Different as Me

My mother came to visit me for my birthday this year and bought me a gift card for Books-A-Million in Dupont Circle. On Memorial Day, I happened to have the day off and wandered into the bookstore looking to use the card. It's rare that I have a day off so I figured I would use it when I could. It was a really hot day and I had just walked for two hours through the city so what better way to cool off than discover new reads?

Wandering through the aisles I picked up a book about the Sistine Chap… Continue

Reading

I'm currently reading a couple of books and thought I'd share a couple excerpts that caught my eye.

Arlette had the good sense not to pry into the woman's life, and each morning they continued to walk to the square to feed the cats and birds. Madame Perruche never talked about her past, but there were telltale signs in her behavior that convinced Arlette that the woman had come from a good family. She took note of how the woman set the table and folded the bottom corners of a bedsheet; and how… Continue

Artistic Freedom

In the glorious field of property artisans we are not given much artistic freedom...okay, let me re-phrase that...we are allowed little to no artistic freedom. After all, we are not "property designers" we merely follow the plans of the set designer, director and costume designer to support their designs. My name is no longer at the front of the playbill with the other designers, I have been moved to the last page in 9pt font. All of this is well and good. I was prepared for this...wasn't I?… Continue

Art is a lie that tells us the truth

I decided I'd do a little updating here, mostly because I'm tired of seeing my stressed out Midterm post on the homepage.

I'm working on creating a new studio for myself, I've quickly outgrown the studio/bedroom combo. Good news is the new studio will be huge. I'll be able to do everything I need or want to, except have a darkroom.

My brother leaves for Iraq again on January 3rd. He's supposed to be in a "safe" area outside the airport. I hope he really is. We're going on a bac… Continue

MIDTERMS!! EEK!!

Thank goodness midterms are over at 2am central time tuesday morning. (except i still have a TON of projects to complete!) School is currently sucking the life from my very being. Art school, online.. who would have thought that was a good idea?............. Jeni?............ Of course!

It actually is a good idea, because it's the most reasonable way for me to finish my degree. *Keep telling yourself that, Jeni*.... anyway.. keeping motivated about school, a different story... but it's… Continue
