Thanks Todd, Patti Smith song. Yah that's me singing. Bad mix I know, but good enough for my Workspace pals.

As usual, the time and feel are right in the pocket.  I can't hear the lyrics - is this you singing, and did you write it?

It's good for me to see your free and lovely stuff. My work tends to be too careful.

Thanks! I'll go take a look! I'm particularly fond of puppets...I did giant shadow puppets for Seneca's Medea as my Master's Thesis Project :) Wow, I'm actually getting inspired to start making something...hmmm I do have…

Haha you were much more technical than I was! These were a last minute addition by the director so I had to do a down-and-dirty version. I formed them loosely with burlap dipped in a mixture of wheat wall paper paste, wood glue and water over…

Hi Anndi, I did 'Rhinoceros" with puppets and made a bunch of rhino helmets from burlap. Seeing this, I want to get started making something for Beltane, something with a beak. I make them over clay and paint them with marine epoxy.

Thanks guys!! I wish I would have saved him from the dumpster after the show closed :( He took quite the beating throughout the run though because it was a 12 week run and the actor was very rough with it. Oh well...

Ed - Yeah I made over 30 masks (some were 3-4 feet tall) in this method because they are so lightweight and don't need eye holes.  Only used one layer of papier mache to make the solid bits. I think I'm going to make a new one for me…

@ed - thanks for the compliment!  I really liked your "Levy" piece as well, and hope you'll do more like that.  Too bad we're all scattered around the country now - it would be nice to get together and play…

Inspiration - It's about damn time!

Since becoming unemployed I have been in a downward spiral of depression. I live in the basement of an old GI house with the tiniest windows and I've holed myself up down here (wow weird choice of words there) and I have rarely removed myself from my own personal dungeon. My best friend, Glady forced me to go to Ocean City a couple weeks ago and that was my first push towards opening back up. I felt like a new person. I actually caught myself smiling in the back seat watching the… Continue

Same Kind of Different as Me

My mother came to visit me for my birthday this year and bought me a gift card for Books-A-Million in Dupont Circle. On Memorial Day, I happened to have the day off and wandered into the bookstore looking to use the card. It's rare that I have a day off so I figured I would use it when I could. It was a really hot day and I had just walked for two hours through the city so what better way to cool off than discover new reads?

Wandering through the aisles I picked up a book about the… Continue

Reading

I'm currently reading a couple of books and thought I'd share a couple excerpts that caught my eye.

Arlette had the good sense not to pry into the woman's life, and each morning they continued to walk to the square to feed the cats and birds. Madame Perruche never talked about her past, but there were telltale signs in her behavior that convinced Arlette that the woman had come from a good family. She took note of how the woman set the table and folded the bottom corners of a… Continue
